报告题目:Optical and Spectroscopic Operando Measurements for Investigation of Organic Semiconductor Devices and Materials
报告摘要:
Organic semiconductor devices have attracted considerable attention owing to their simple and low-cost fabrication processes. Understanding charge transport mechanisms is essential for improving device performance. Operando optical measurements provide valuable insights into carrier dynamics under actual operating conditions. We have developed operando measurement techniques based on time-resolved microscopic second-harmonic generation (TRM-SHG) and photoluminescence (PL) imaging. TRM-SHG enables visualization of electric-field distributions and carrier motion in organic devices, providing direct insights into charge transport mechanisms. Furthermore, pump–probe measurements have revealed exciton and carrier dynamics near donor–acceptor interfaces in organic solar cells on picosecond to nanosecond timescales. PL imaging has also enabled visualization of long-range carrier transport in polymer thin films, revealing anisotropic hole and electron mobilities. In this presentation, recent advances in these operando spectroscopic techniques and their applications to understanding carrier transport phenomena in organic semiconductor devices will be discussed.

He received his B.E., M.E., and D.E. degrees from Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1995, 1997, and 2000, respectively. After serving as a JSPS Research Fellow, he joined Tokyo Institute of Technology in 2000 and became Professor in 2017. Since October 2024, he has served as Vice President for Universities for International Research Excellence Program Development. His research focuses on organic electronics, charge transport, and advanced optical characterization techniques, particularly electric-field-induced second-harmonic generation and SHG imaging. He has published over 200 scientific papers and received several awards, including the MEXT Young Scientists' Prize (2012). He currently chairs the Molecular Electronics and Bioelectronics Division of the Japan Society of Applied Physics.
