报告题目：Challenges in materials shaping the decarbonization processes for atotally sustainable energy system
报告摘要：
A sustainable future requires a new energy system based on renewable sources. Achieving this, depends, critically, on meeting essential requirements where the desired performance relies on specific material properties and the control of their characteristics. Beyond optimizing generation efficiency to ensure adequate productivity, the stability and sustainability of this new scenario depend on energy storage capabilities-to guarantee a 24/7/365 supply-and on CO2 capture processes -to achieve the necessary decarbonization of both grid backup systems and hard-to-abate industries-. In this talk, we describe the challenges and the research objectives for advancing in material performances to achieve fully energy system sustainability based on the development of advanced catalyst materials for enhancing the carbon dioxide capture as well as their use, together to green hydrogen, for obtaining added value chemical products and fuels. Nowadays, current materials research must transform how we will go to decarbonize totally the energy system.
报告人简介：
Prof. Joan Ramon Morante is Professor of Electronics at the University of Barcelona and Director of the Advanced Materials for Energy Area at the Catalonia Institute for Energy Research (IREC), Spain. His research focuses on advanced materials, nanotechnology, energy storage, hydrogen technologies, and renewable energy systems. He has published over 600 scientific papers and holds several patents. He is a former President of the European Materials Research Society (E-MRS) and a renowned expert in materials and energy technologies.
