报告题目:A better chance with new functionalities in perovskite oxides
报告摘要:
The primary research focuses on room-temperature single-phase multiferroic materials, multiferroic photovoltaic materials, high-power piezoelectric applications, large-stroke actuator materials, and in-situ characterization of functional properties. The work is centered on two main categories: energy materials and high-temperature dielectrics. It explores their applications as high-temperature dielectrics and in the energy field (particularly photovoltaics), based on relaxor ferroelectrics, piezoelectric single crystals, textured ceramics, and multiferroic materials. The research group's Sustainable Functional Materials Laboratory (SFC) has been conducting a series of experimental works supported by theoretical justification to develop new functional materials as well as create new functionalities in existing materials. The group cares not only about the future of academic achievements but also the reality that what industries need is not something fancy but practical. They keep in close touch with industries for mutual development, while continuously heading toward challenging issues that have never been explored.
报告人简介:
Wook Jo is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST). He received his Ph.D. degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Seoul National University in 2005. He worked as a Research Associate at the School of Materials Science & Engineering, Seoul National University from 2005 to 2006. In 2014, he took up the positions of Associate Professor at UNIST and Executive Officer of the Korean Institute of Electrical and Electronic Material Engineers. In 2015, he served as Executive Officer of the Korean Ceramic Society. In 2017, he was appointed Director of the Jülich-UNIST joint Leading Institute for Advanced Energy Research (JULIA). In 2019, he became Executive Officer of the Korean Sensors Society, and in 2021, he worked as a Consulting Scientist at Samsung Electromechanics. He has long been focused on the research of ferroelectric ceramics, multiferroic ceramics, dielectric ceramics, oxide catalysts, and textured ceramics. The Sustainable Functional Laboratory (SFC) in his research group has long carried out systematic experimental studies supported by theories, aiming to develop new functional materials and endow existing materials with new functional characteristics. His H-index is 64. He was selected as one of the Best Materials Science Scientists in South Korea/Materials Science Field (top 100 researchers in South Korea) in 2022, won the Merit Award from the Korean Institute of Electrical and Electronic Materials Engineers in 2021.
